Decorative bind off

This is a three needle bind-off that is done on the right side. It creates a ridged line and is attractive when worked in a contrast color. To use a contrast color, knit one row with the color on each piece of knitting before joining.

1. Hold pieces together so that right sides are facing out toward you.
2.With third needle, slip 1 stitch from back needle to front needle.
3. Purl two together.
4. With third needle, slip 1 stitch from back needle to front needle.
5. Purl two together. You now have 2 stitches on the right needle.
6. Pass first stitch over second stitch (one stitch bound off).
Repeat steps 4-6 until all stitches are bound off. When you are close to end of the seam, count the stitches on both sides. If the count is different, you can knit 3 stitches together to even them up (one stitch from one side and 2 stitches from the other side).
