Cable cast on

The cable cast-on uses one strand of yarn; it can be used to add stitches at the beginning or end of a row OR to start your knitting. It makes an edge that is similar to the long-tail (slingshot cast) cast-on.

On the knit side—

1. Position your knitting so the yarn is at the right edge with right side facing.
2. From the front, put right needle between the first two stitches.

3. Wrap yarn and pull through.
4. Put new stitch on left needle,
keeping stitch loose.

Repeat this sequence until you have cast on the required number of stitches.
